Demo v0.3.0 - Major Core Overhaul Update
Hi everyone!
Slotbound Demo has been updated to v0.3.0.
This is a major update centered around an almost complete rebuild of the Core system, along with improvements to controls, stability, unit spawning, and game balance.
Core System Overhaul
The Core system has been rebuilt almost entirely from scratch.
Most of the previous Cores have been redesigned or replaced with new ones that are more varied, more exciting, and much easier to feel during gameplay.
The goal was to make each Core noticeably change the way you play, create more interesting combinations, and give every run a stronger sense of variety.
New Features
- Added a manual lock option that prevents selected units from being used as absorption materials
- Added mid-run saving, allowing you to continue an unfinished run later
- You can now spin the slot machine with the Spacebar
- You can now toggle Absorb Mode with the A key
- Units now spawn in more natural positions without awkwardly overlapping other units
Keyboard and controller support are still being developed. This update is the first step toward properly supporting both.
Balance Changes
- Adjusted the overall difficulty of Stage 1
- Adjusted the overall difficulty of Stage 2
Bug Fixes and Improvements
- Fixed an issue where the game could stop running while in the background
- Fixed a memory leak
- Fixed an issue where the game would not properly follow changes to the active audio device
- Fixed an issue where battles could begin automatically
- Fixed various other bugs and stability issues
Thank you to everyone who has continued to play and share feedback.
The Core system was one of the parts of the game that needed the most work, so I decided to rebuild almost all of it rather than make a few small changes.
I hope the new Cores make every run feel more varied, more satisfying, and much more fun to build around.
There is still a lot I want to improve, and I’ll keep working hard to make Slotbound better with every update.
