WELCOME TO THE BURGER CULT: Lore Overview
⚠️* Please keep in mind that this article contains story/lore spoilers for the saga, so if you haven't beaten previous games—namely, *Burger Farm*—we suggest you do that first before sinking your teeth into this post.*⚠️
Hey, crew,
As you may already know, * **Happy's Humble Burger Cult* is a multiplayer title where you work in the kitchen with your mates, trying to escape the unimaginable lurking horror. There’s no story mode in the traditional sense, but you can still play solo . The game is set after*Burger Farm* **and expands the universe's lore along the way. If you want to dig deeper, you’ll find things like audio logs and other details that tell you more about this dystopian world.
That said, today, we'd like to introduce the setting and premise of***Burger Cult* **.
THE AFTERMATH OF E42’s ESCAPE
In the wake of E42 escaping, the Bore Hole has suffered facility-wide malfunctions. This has resulted in utter chaos. Paragon has sealed the Bore Hole, locking Test Subjects and Paragon staff alike underground. Those unlucky Test Subjects and staff members have been abandoned, stuck to contend with both the botched scientific experiments and the horrors emerging from the depths of the planet Scythe.
REALITY DE-FABRICATION
Over time, the Test Subjects stuck underground have begun to… change. Their reality is no longer being fabricated… it has been shattered completely. But they are not wandering listlessly about and mumbling incomprehensibly like Toe
. Instead, they have begun to mutate into strange creatures who embrace the work shift.
These tireless workers worship the very Assets who terrify and maul them. In their new twisted reality, to be murdered by the Assets is***divine will* **, and only through repeated work shifts can anyone truly ascend to the next plane of existence.
ORDER OF THE HOLY GRILL
This new breed of Test Subject has been deemed the “Barnyard Believers” by Paragon, but they refer to themselves as “The Order of the Holy Grill.”
They have taken to worshipping a new, more vicious asset: Joy. She serves as the Order's demonic idol as Test Subjects serve the customer bots and fulfill work duties—not because of Paragon’s brainwashing… but a new, unexplained brainwashing from an unknown source.

The Order of the Holy Grill are faithful servants of the Assets, particularly Asset Joy. Rumors swirl about that other branches of this burger cult lurk in the Bore Hole, and that they worship other entities; a revived and stitched up Asset Peter, a crispily burnt Asset Chuck, a raging Asset Farmer, an evolved Asset Samuel that has sprouted legs to roam the facility as a “fish out of water,” and other terrors not revealed in * Happy’s Humble Burger Farm*.
LOGIN… AUDIO LOG OUT
Players interested in a more in-depth look into the lore of * **HHBC* can search each restaurant for sequential audio logs that tell short stories within the context of a post-*Happy’s Humble Burger Farm* **Bore Hole. Faces new and old give details into just what happened in the wake of E42’s escape… or at least what they perceive is happening.
Additionally, audio scenes can be observed in the Lair, depicting the chaos raging throughout the facility. A clever ear can deduce exactly just what sort of carnage has begun to ring through the Bore Hole before, during, and after the sealing.
Needless to say, while narrative has taken a back seat to the stories player teams will tell themselves through gameplay, there is tons of context for lore hounds to sink their teeth into, leaving the door open for further stories in the shared Scythe Saga universe and***Happy’s Humble* **Chronicles.
