CO-OP UPDATE v0.2 IS OUT NOW!

ONLINE CO-OP IS HERE!

  • Invite as many friends as your PC can handle (Steam allows up to 250, but you need NASA PC for that many).
  • We designed gameplay for 1-6 drivers, but game will try to scale with more people.
  • All your progress is shared between co-op and single player.
  • Friendly fire option for annoying your friends.
  • Progress through the whole game together (except intro and the last boss for now).

What to do if I need more friends?

CO-OP development

We will keep improving, fixing and tweaking co-op with every update. Some things like last boss fight are not done, some things like vines are not yet synchronized over network.

Adding CO-OP required changing over 1200 files in the project, so expect certain amount of jank and bugs. As a tiny team of 3 people we couldn't test and fix all of them, but we are on it!

Other news is that we finally created a developer fanpage on Steam. Fun fact - Steam didn't allow to name it "*FUMES* *team*", because it contains "S team", so we went with "***FUMES* devs & friends **" which tbh makes sense, because we are not a proper studio, we are a bunch of friends making games!

Roadmap and store page refresh

We** refreshed *FUMES* roadmap **, you can check it in the game or on our store page. Also, we added a ton of juicy GIFs on our store page to hypnotize people into buying our game.

OTHER CHANGES

Goal for this update was to add co-op (and plenty of new bugs with it), but we managed to squezze in a few new things and some tweaks too.

New suspensions

We added 6 new suspensions, including some missing ones for Caro, Unitrack and Warhorse and a brand new suspension for Warthog - Bulldog:

Knockbacks rework WIP

We reworked and rebalanced weapon knockback. This was needed, because launching your friends with triple Mortar.NG can be quite addictive. Also, we are experimenting with a rocket jumping mechanic.

This is a very rough change and we will keep improving it based on your feedback.

Billboards

We added billboards with other indie games made by our close friends. Most of these games can be found in our bundles.

These billboards can be destroyed, but only by flying through them. Thankfully, it turns out that someone placed some ramps near them.

Two new achievements

  • Better Together- join or create a lobby (just creating lobby will do if you don't want to play with others).
  • Ad Block - smash a billboard.

To be honest we ran out o time to test these properly, hope they will work fine :D

  • Removed excessive cutscenes from boss fights.
  • Unitrack fenders added as togglable parts.
  • Bizon fenders front and rear togglabe parts separated.
  • Added automatic hiding of parts that are overlapping with suspensions.
  • Bizon Digger and SixFoot suspensions width tweaks.
  • Sabbath front hardpoints tweaks.
  • Sabbath and Warthog Rover suspensions tweaks.
  • Inhalers added to bossfights.
  • Inhalers healing range and value tweaks.
  • Intermission waves in skirmishes added.
  • Triple overkill difficulty tweaks.
  • Treadarius ram damage tweaks.
  • Expirator intro boss hp buff.
  • Flakwagon (Madd Cutts) bossfight difficulty tweaks.
  • Sabbath steiger skirmish difficulty tweaks.

  • Made the game run in the background when alt-tabbed etc. (needed for co-op).
  • Rework of endgame activities selection.
  • Some minor tweaks to enemies behaviour.
  • Harvesters spawning improvements.
  • Improved saves compatibility in demo and full game.
  • Improvements of completed boss fight display in progress tab.
  • Apparently infamous Bowie Knife racer infected FUMES world.

Fixes

  • Fixed disappearing weapons when changing car body.
  • Fixed total playtime not being counted while in scrapper.
  • Triple Overkill Not Triggering Boss Achievements fix.
  • Last Wave Incoming dialogue fix in skirmish activity.
  • Fixed saving of endgame activities.
  • Fixed clearing of anomalies progress when resetting boss fights progress.
  • Sabbath enemies spawning fix.
  • Boss spawning position fix.
  • Overseer rank bosses will now destroy wind turbines.
  • Industrius fantom elevator fix.
  • Fixed destructible props chunks not being spawned sometimes.
  • Translations tweaks and fixes.

Known issues

  • Many things like vines, props are not properly synchronized over network yet.
  • Harvesters are buggy in co-op.
  • Sometimes cars are duplicated in co-op.
  • Performance can be finicky in both co-op and single-player.
  • And many more in co-op... but this post is already too long :(
