Dev Vlog #3: Behind Early Access

Hello everyone!

The Early Access release of Expeditions: Samurai is in a mere three days! We hope you're all as excited to play the game as we are to see how you like it once it's in your hands.

While we wait for Friday, some of you have asked why we've chosen to release the game in Early Access. This is the first time an Expeditions game will be in Early Access, but not the first time a version of an Expeditions game has been made available to players while still in development - after all, Viking had an open beta and Conquistador was Kickstarted.

Sit down with us in our lovely Copenhagen office and let us talk about how it benefits the game to get hands-on feedback from fans while there's still time for changes and improvements.

What is contained in the Early Access version?

The version of our game that will be made available to you on Friday will contain the full 1st act of the story. This includes 5 main storyline quests and 3 side quests. In our experience it takes about 6-8 hours to play through. Your save from this initial EA version will be fully compatible with future versions, meaning you will not have to restart the game when the final version releases.

We know Early Access isn't a model that works for every player, and we respect that. For those of you willing to take a chance on an unfinished game and to help us hone it into the best CRPG ever released, Friday can't come soon enough!
